Rico Durán developed his professional career in Chihuahua, México as a Marketing and retail Executive for 11 years. In his previous career he began working as a Corporate Manager at “Soriana”, a national retailer in México.
In this role, he learned much about the inner workings of businesses and brand management, inventories, principles of accounting, financial forecasting and other economic models.
In the USA, Rico has 20+ years of experience building and mobilizing communities in Minnesota. With an interest in the arts, communications and media, Rico sees opportunities to explore creativity, and bring attention to social and equity disparities.
Rico is dedicated to uniting, educating, and developing leadership among Latino youth and families. A proven and connected change agent, campaigning for equity opportunities, education, and civic participation, by sharing cultural values to build community.
His volunteer work includes: Advisory Board and travel with “Mano a Mano” in Bolivia, Advisory committee with Minnesota Public Radio in Minnesota, Volunteer world relief work with “Habitat for Humanity” in Haiti and Guatemala, United States, and Mexico.
Rico has learned to excel at building relationships and partnerships and developing strategies that engage communities to take action. At LEDC, Rico Durán envisions to continue his passion to pursue education and developing economic paths in Minnesota.
