Star Tribune calls attendees to LEDC’s Taco Tour on Lake Street
The 2022 Taco Tour event gears up for its first year back since 2018. One of Minneapolis’s most reputable newspapers publishes an article featuring the event’s history and generating buzz about its future.
Journalist Joy Summers calls all food lovers to come out to experience the authentic delights Lake Street has to offer. Tacos being the highlight treat of September 24th, there are 22 restaurants/food trucks to choose from across the 1.2 mile stretch of the event. Summers notes a few favorites being, Taqueria El Patrón and Las Cuatro Milpas, and she gives special shout outs to longtime favorite Manny’s Tortas in Midtown Global Market and to new Salvadorean addition on the strip, El Guanaco.
Henry Jimenez underscores “East Lake Street is a magnet for anybody who loves food…If you love Lake Street, you love food.”
Beyond the excitement of the 2022’s fresh take to the event, Summers discusses the differences made since the last time the event was held. 2020 presented many historical challenges to the street thus giving this year’s event a distinct motivation, that being to support the business owners directly.
The pandemic’s closures and post-George Floyd damages has left with many businesses recovering from financial worry and negative reputations. The Taco Tour aims to show a different story and encourage more customers to join the already rich community.
“The taco tour is a way to show what your commitment is to your community,” said Jiménez in his interview. “If we don’t support these businesses we can’t support and continue these traditions.”
