LEDC’s Taco Tour on Lake Street is Back for 2022

Free community-building event on September 24 from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M.

Minneapolis, MN – The Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC) is bringing back its Taco Tour on Lake Street on September 24 from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Following the pandemic and uprising after George Floyd’s murder in 2020, small businesses along Lake Street are struggling to bring customers back. Many of these businesses are immigrant- and BIPOC-owned. LEDC has decided to do something to support these businesses.

We’re excited to announce the Taco Tour on Lake Street is back! We’re inviting the community to join us in supporting Latino- and BIPOC-owned small businesses. This event is also one of many that is celebrating Lake Street’s greatness.

“Our clients have asked repeatedly when we will have our Taco Tour on Lake Street again. It is a tremendous honor to share that this is the year it’s coming back,” Henry Jiménez, Executive Director of LEDC said. “Join us in proudly supporting these Latino- and immigrant-owned small businesses, while having fun and enjoying some delicious tacos.”

“We are committed to supporting the small businesses on Lake Street, where we recently opened two new U.S. Bank branches to provide support and resources to these small businesses and entrepreneurs,” shared Sofia Terzic, Assistant Vice President and Community Affairs Manager at U.S. Bank.  “We rebuilt and remain in the Lake Street community to help support its vitality and growth.”

Learn more about the event here. A press/media kit is also available.

LEDC’s mission is to transform our community by creating economic opportunities for Latinos, with a focus on providing a continuum of one-on-one and classroom services to help Latino entrepreneurs launch and grow successful small businesses in Minnesota. Many of these businesses are located along Lake Street.
