LEDC Travels to Rural Minnesota to Help Businesses

Last Wednesday, July 28th, a team from LEDC traveled to Long Prairie, Minnesota, where they visited four businesses as a continuation of services. The team also gave a presentation on LEDC’s programs and services to representatives of Todd County and the Long Prairie Chamber of Commerce in hopes of exploring a new partnership to find ways to help more rural businesses.

The following are a few highlights from the trip:

First, the team met with the Chávez brothers at their new business, Chavez Event Center, where they were able to see the progress being made on the remodeling project, talk about the conditions of a new loan from LEDC, and see the project’s timeline.

The LEDC team then met with José García, owner of the restaurant/market Mi Pueblito Market, to learn more about plans to expand the business, see updated bids from contractors, and talk about the possibility of applying for additional funds for the project.

In their visit to Novedades Bronco, the team sat down with owner Martín Montanez to discuss his loan modification situation.

Finally, the LEDC team had a meeting with Latino immigrant-owned farm cooperative Agua Gorda, in which they spoke with one of the García brothers about the status of the farm’s current loan and the need to modify it.

This trip was part of a new collaborative initiative between three of LEDC’s departments: Business Development, Lending and Agriculture.
