La Poblanita Celebrates 23 years on Lake Street and becoming a participating Taco Tour Business

Tacos a Mano, Cesar Morales’ family business and their homemade tortillas have persevered throughout trials and tragedy over the last three years. Tortillas can be sampled on September 24th on a self-guided tour made to support Latino Entrepreneurs like Morales.

“We make our own tortillas here. We cook and grind our own corn — we don’t bring them frozen from other places.” Cesar Morales describes what will makes his restaurant’s tacos stand out. Beyond family recipes that have made La Poblanita a staple over the last 23 years, it will take community to keep them afloat. After seeing people coming together after the pain and destruction that occurred after the murder of George Floyd, the Morales family made a point to stay on Lake Street. LEDC’S Taco Tour on Lake Street aims to support and promote these Latino owned businesses by bringing back customers. Like executive director, Henry Jimenez presents, “We want to encourage people to come get a taco, but you might want to get some dessert next door. You might want to get your nails done while you’re here. There’s so much on Lake Street…”, LEDC hopes the energy of this event will transcend September 24th and change the narrative of neighborhood for all Minnesotans, not only for the taco lovers.
