Get to know the magic of acai while getting to know the brilliance of Dennise Mejia. Dennise is of Colombian descent and has an educational background in molecular biology and chemistry. Her background has given her an edge in creating masterful ingredient combinations that put health at the forefront of flavor.
For Dennise, acai bowls make living a healthy and vegan lifestyle achievable and shareable. Dennise and her partner Mauricio came to LEDC in September of 2021 looking to expand this concept outside her home lab/kitchen and into her Minnesota community. Business Development and Lending Departments helped confront barriers with technical assistance, coaching, and access to capital to get Bom Día Treats on the move.
In the last year, they made partnerships with other shops to add their products to the menu. Beginning in the Summer of 2022 they began selling their bowls at the popular Quixotic Coffee shop in St. Paul. Bom Dia Treats now will be opening a new location in Minneapolis’s North Loop, having sights set on a late-spring opening.
At all locations, customers can select from bowls and beverage options or build-their-own toppings according to preferences. They now even have a kid’s menu! To reach optimal benefits and taste, acai is always the star ingredient—an antioxidant packed-super food-fruit from Brazil’s amazon rainforest.
Acai may be the main catalyst, but Dennise and Mariano keep family close and active in the operations, as the greatest flavor combination of all. LEDC is equally as proud of these business owners, seeing their growth and the way they care about the community’s health.
