How to Stop the Spread at Taco Tour on Lake Street
The Taco Tour on Lake Street is going to be a fun event for the whole family to gather over the celebration of the love of tacos, Lake Street and the Latino community! For this, let’s do our part to keep the businesses, attendees, and volunteers as protected as possible from the spread of COVID-19.
Here are ways we hope you can join us in keeping neighbors healthy before, during and after the event:
Eat tacos, get vaccinated!, and then eat some MORE tacos!
At the Taco Tour we are partnering with TruCare clinic to offer free doses of the Moderna Vaccine conveniently located at the Bienestar Familiar community space. For those who do not want to miss a second of the festivities, the clinic is open before and after the tour (9am to 5pm)! As a walk-in patient you can visit the Family Partnership sponsor booth and get set up with your first, second dose or booster.
Vaccines are safe and effective for age 6 months and up—it is an important defense measure to take this back-to-school season and in preparation for the holidays! If you would prefer to get vaccinated before the event you can find vaccines close to you.
Spend time in the community (6ft) spaces!
It is easy to keep the distance when walking the distance across beautiful Lake Street! Enjoy the tour that will be self-guided and mostly outdoors on a beautiful fall day. Indoor interactions will only need to occur inside individual restaurants and covered cultural malls (Plaza Mexico, Mercado Central, and Midtown Global Market). Masks are welcome in these spaces when not eating or drinking, also while on public transit and in more congested areas. Paper masks will be available at most volunteer tables and at our community spaces along with sanitizing stations. We strongly recommend cleaning hands while enjoying the “perfect hand food”, we will have designated picnic areas in community spaces if you want to devour your tacos to-go.
Test before Tacos
If you feel any symptoms or have known exposure, please stay home from this year’s taco tour and consider ordering take-out/delivery and visiting our wonderful restaurants another time (they operate year round!). Taking Covid-19 tests is a good precaution to take when showing light or no symptoms.
We will be distributing 200 QuickVue At-Home OTC Covid-19 tests kits at the the Bienestar Familiar [need to confirm which booth], (one kit-2 test units per household). We also will be distributing tests to participating business owners and staff so they can plan ahead to keep customers and their families as safe as possible.
