Executive Director, Shared Capital Cooperative

Christina Jennings has more than 20 years of experience in community development finance and microfinance in the US and Latin America.  Jennings is Executive Director of Shared Capital Cooperative, a national CDFI loan fund based in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Shared Capital provides financing to cooperative businesses and affordable housing with a mission of building a just, equitable and democratic economy. Jennings joined Shared Capital in 2008 where she provides strategic leadership, oversees lending programs, and leads capitalization and fundraising efforts.

Jennings is fluent in Spanish and has lived and worked in Latin America and worked with Latino immigrants in the US. Prior to joining Shared Capital, she managed two international funds that invested in local microfinance organizations in Central America. In the Twin Cities, she worked with several organizations providing financing and technical assistance to immigrant-led nonprofits and immigrant-owned businesses. In addition, Jennings has launched and managed several small businesses and social ventures. She currently provides administrative and accounting support to the commercial and residential handyman and cleaning business owned by her husband, a Latino immigrant.

Jennings has served on the Board of Directors of Latino Economic Development Center since 2017 and on the Finance Committee since 2016. She currently is the Treasurer of the Board and Chair of the Finance Committee. She has also served on many nonprofit boards and currently serves on the boards of directors of the City of Lakes Community Land Trust and Washington DC-based Cooperative Development Foundation. Jennings holds a Master’s in Public Affairs focused on Community Economic Development and Nonprofit Management from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs of the University of Minnesota, and a BA from Hampshire College in gender and international development.
